There are more than 50,000 bids are currently active on GeM. Therefore you need to learn How to find bids/tenders for your products. We will see multiple ways to find the bids on the GeM Portal.
Types of Bids/RAs on GeM?
GeM offers many ways for buyers to fulfill their requirements. These are:
- Catalog based Bids/RAs
- Custom Item Bids/RAs
- Bunch Bids/RAs
- BOQs
Let's talk about them are in detail.
Catalog based Bids/RAs
Catalog-based Bids and RAs are those types of bids in which only those sellers can quote, who have already registered their products/services in the same category.
No one can see the "Participate" button of these bids who have not registered their products or services in the same category.
Mostly bids and RAs (Reverse Auctions) are published in the category on GeM.
Steps:
Log in to your GeM seller account and go to the Bids > List of Bids

Here you can see the button to view/select the available category for your account. Click on the button

Select the category you want to search the bids/tenders for and click on the search button.
Now you may see all the ongoing tenders in the selected categories.
Custom Item Bids/RAs
There is a huge number of categories available on the GeM Portal. But, what if the category of the required product is not available on the portal?. Well, the GeM team is smart. Therefore they give an option of the Custom Item Bids/RAs to come over of this problem.
Buyers can publish their bids and RAs in the custom item category where they can upload their own specifications according to their requirements.
Steps:
Follow the same steps to log in and go to the ongoing bids section
Go to the custom bid/RA section which may available in the last of the tabs.
In the search bar. You can search by the Bid or RA number or simply click on the "BID/RA NUMBER" and select the "Item". Then search for your item to get the ongoing bids for your products or services.
Bunch Bids/RAs
If a buyer needs more than one item then he can publish the bids for every product or service. But, this can takes too much time and effort. So, to save the time and effort of the buyer GeM has a bunch bids/RAs option.
The buyer can make a bunch of the bids he wants to publish and then he can publish them as a single bid/RA.
This will save the time of the buyer as well as the sellers who will now participate in a single bid instead of participating in the separate bids of every product or service.
Steps:
Follow the same steps to log in and go to the ongoing bids section
Go to the Bunch Bids/RAs section which may available in the third position of the tabs.
Now you can simply follow the steps to find the catalog-based bids/RAs to find the bunch bids also.
BOQs
BOQ means Bill of Quantities. It was observed that a number of Buyers across Ministries have requirements to Publish a larger number of items involving detailed Price breakup.
The bunching method available on the GeM Portal would be tedious and time-consuming for the Buyers.
Buyers can analyze Item-wise Price breakup in a larger contract/project. Therefore they often choose BOQ-based bids on GeM.
Steps:
Follow the same steps to log in and go to the ongoing bids section
Here you can see the button to view/select the available category for your account. Click on the button
Select the BOQ as the category and search for the bids. Now you can see all the ongoing bids of BOQ.
Tips: If you want to see all the available bids in the selected tab, you can click on >> View All Ongoing Bids button.
